Guan-Yin stumbled upon a young boy priest called Hsuan Tsang, in the small village of Shanxi .The village had been pillaged and burned by local bandits, so the Tang  emperor sent his mighty army to sort them out. Even though the bandits had killed Hsuan’s father, he still prayed for their forgiveness. Guan-Yin saw this and realized he truly was a holy man, the one to lead this important mission and named him Tripitaka. Guan-Yin noticed that Tripitaka was very small and weak, and would be helpless if he was attacked by Monsters or Demons, so he promised to find three powerful disciples to protect him on the perilous journey.
