The Gods Laid Bare - Myth without the Pith

I've had this idea...

The Gods Laid Bare - Myth without the Pith ..

Mythology is amusing, fact. The 'toffs' might try to make it quite serious by padding it with big words and clouding the issue, but really, that's just not the way it was intended to be. Long before writing was invented people were passing on tales of their gods and the like, as a means to explain inexplicable natural occurrences. They had to be larger than life, they had to be super strong .. or super stupid, to provide stories that people would remember. You remember being entertained, you quickly forget being bored half to death!

With that in mind i intend to log every known deity, demon, spirit, creature, event, item, goddity and oddity from all cultures and times and build a 'light-hearted' online encyclopedia of mythology which is factually correct, or as near to correct as your average myth can be, without the jargon and fluff.

But i need your help....
Please Contact  me with suggestions or details of any gods, demons, spirits, goblins, giants or any other 'thing' rooted in mythology or folklore. I'm obviously keen to log the 'big' gods from the main pantheons, ie greece, etc.. but also the demons, spirits and creatures from local folklore, so if you're from Durham and an authority on the Lambton Worm, drop me a line. You can buzz over to the site which has the bare bones online right now, and use the form here. Simply fill in as many details as you can, then send. Easy. I will jump on any snippet of info, no matter how bizarre or unlikely, like a posessed Columbo! All submissions will be duly researched and checked for validity against numerous sources, then included in the sites index.

All sections are works in progress, so if you spot an error with an entry, the design looks a little goofy or you would like to see your fave' god included, drop me a line.

Thanks. Lee.
